To promote products, movies, or even causes, a great viral social campaign grabs thousands of people’s attention and can even encourage celebrities to get involved. Here are a select few of our favourite viral social campaigns:
1. #danceponydance by Three
This hilarious campaign saw a very funky pony dancing to a classic song and even let consumers upload their very own unique dancing pony.
2. Ice Bucket Challenge by ALS
One of the biggest talking points of 2014. With celebrities including Benedict Cumberbatch taking part, 440 million people around the world watched an Ice Bucket Challenge on Facebook.
3. Dumb ways to die by Metro Trains
This playful Australian public service announcement features joyful little characters who meet gory yet cartoonish demises. The campaign's singalong video went viral over social media and cuddly toy versions of the characters are now on sale.
4. #LikeaGirl by Always
Always’ #LikeaGirl campaign challenged some of the gender stereotypes still prevalent in the 21st Century, achieving over 90 million video views and 177,000 #LikeAGirl tweets within the first three months of the campaign alone.
5. The Last Selfie by WWF
#Lastselfie was cleverly designed for Snapchat, where endangered animals would pop up on your screen and disappear within seconds, highlighting the imminent extinction they may face without WWF.
