Nissan's self healing paint

Wednesday, 15th May 2013 at 9:52am

Nissan Self Healing PaintIn a clever marketing campaign Nissan has released a special advert for those that read the news on their tablets. The ad itself is for their 'self healing' paint, which recovers from light scratches to look as good as new.

The advert, created by TBWA/G1 Paris, creates scratches in the paintwork of the car as users try to swipe through the ad, which then repair themselves.

Very clever use of the swipe motion that people use whilst browsing to highlight another innovation.

Watch the ad in action below.

A very crowded sky

Monday, 3rd December 2012 at 6:58pm

Flight FilmTake a look at how every flight landing at San Diego International Airport looks like when compressed into 30 seconds.

This film by Cy Kuckenbaker is of course a composite but it is quite fun to watch - especially towards the end.

Imagine what this would look like if it was Heathrow Airport.

A vision of our augmented reality future

Wednesday, 8th August 2012 at 9:57am

This short film suggests an almost-plausible forecast of the evolution of augmented reality, everything from cooking to dating.

Augmented reality'Sight' was created by students Daniel Lazo and Eran May-raz from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and is an eight-minute short that takes augmented reality to the next level with iridescent contact lenses that enhance the wearer’s world.

The result is interactive overlays of video games, cooking lessons, TV shows, and anything else that’s accessible on smartphones and computers.

"We were inspired by many present-day apps and several sci-fi movies," says Lazo. "But most of the ideas came from us trying to visualize a world where this tech is standard, and what kind of interactions can happen in it."

See their vision of the future below or find out more on co.create:

Making sense of lip reading

Sunday, 29th July 2012 at 4:42pm

Bad Lip ReadingWe found this strange but funny blog called 'Bad Lip Reading' which takes video clips from films and the news and lays new audio over the top.

The result is an amusing take on what the actors, politicians and musicians are saying - but the audio matches their lips.

Un-nerving.

There are many more of these clips here

The result according to their YouTube channel - 'High Performance Art'.

Stylish sci-fi fantasy for Perrier

Sunday, 10th June 2012 at 8:39pm

Premier Drop AdvertisingPerrier Ad DropPerrier has launched a short film called Drop, produced by Ogilvy Paris.

The film sees a young woman attempt a mission to the Sun when the temperature on Earth reaches unbearable levels.

It is directed by Johan Renck and was inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey, as well as French cinematography and includes lots of stylistic special effects courtesy VFX house Mikros Image.

A great visual spectacle but probably not the solution to global warming.

Yum Yum Happy FoodThis short animated film 'Happy Food' by Yum Yum is great fun and anyone who likes ketchup will be able to remember a time when they found themselves in this situation.
