Observation platformObservation platformObservation platformAn observation platform in Vöcklabruck, Austria is giving visitors a new perspective over a picturesque scene.

The platform is set below the water level in the middle of a lake, giving those from the shore the impression that people are below the water line.

The platform is a huge attraction for visitors to the region and consists of a ramp from the shore down to the cirlular enclosure which has seating provided for tourists to sit and enjoy the beautiful views.

How to QR code an entire town

Tuesday, 22nd May 2012 at 8:05pm

Monmouthpedia QR CodesA town in South Wales has taken the step to promote its local landmarks through QR codes in a project called 'Monmouthpedia'.

Monmouthpedia QR Codes

The town is Monmouth and in a six-month initiative they have affixed QR codes to their notable landmarks, organisations and even people which link to Wikipedia entries on each.

The original idea came from TEDx talk in Bristol, where they suggested that Wikipedia should "do a whole town" using QR codes. With more than 1,000 QR codes residents and businesses have taken up the challenge and launched Monmouthpedia last weekend.

The Wikipedia entry for the project says "Lest you think this is a passing interest, the town of Monmouth is in it for the long haul. Many of the QRpedia codes are printed on ceramic plaques that should last for decades. The information in articles is backed by the Wikipedia community and will be continually improved and expanded. Physical guides and maps will become outdated, but the Wikipedia articles will always be able to be updated. This potential for on-site access to up-to-date information in any language is what makes the Monmouthpedia model so exciting."

Speaking as someone who never has a guide book to and in a new town this is a great idea and very engaging.

Jersey, gorillas and cupcakes

Saturday, 7th April 2012 at 9:00am

This fun ad for Jersey Tourism combines video with animation in a real feel good format. A bit surreal at times but that adds to the charm.

It starts with a bored businessman being pulled into a colourful poster at a bus stop and then takes you on a tour around Jersey, From gorillas to the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland this certainly challenges the standard holiday ad treatment of beaches and sunshine - although the gorilla is seen heading off into the sunset on a golden beach with a surfer girl.

Definitely adds colour to your day - great work. See below or click this link.
