The Singing Ringing Tree

Saturday, 28th January 2012 at 5:09am

AttachmentThe Singing Ringing Tree, by Tonkin Liu, may not be a new sculpture but we have just come across it and think it's fantastic.

Constructed of stacked pipes of varying lengths, each layer differs from the next by 15 degrees to respond to the changing wind directions. As the wind passes through different pipe lengths in different layers it plays different chords. Each time you sit under the tree you apparently hear a different song.

It's situated on a hill overlooking Burnley, Lancashire - we will definitely keep a look out for it next time we are in that part of the UK.

See a video of the sculpture below and turn the volume up.

Asite sign 5 year agrement with TfL

Sunday, 14th August 2011 at 6:47am

asite logo.JPGAsite, a leading UK provider of collaborative software, has signed a five-year enterprise agreement with Transport for London (TfL) for the use of its award winning collaborative software as a Service technology (cSaaS).  The deal sees TfL and the Greater London Authority (GLA) (including the Metropolitan Police, the London Development Agency and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority) implementing Asite’s Software.

Asite’s technology will provide TfL and the GLA with a single integrated data management solution for all aspects of the contract administration process across their significant on-going portfolio of construction and facilities management works. TfL staff as well as their entire construction supply chain will use Asite’s Contract Administration applications to manage contract change and to provide real-time visibility of their actual schedule and cost position against budget.  This will assist each of the participants in the supply chain delivering the TfL public works programme by providing further transparency across the complexities of the gamut of forms of contract in use in the field.
