Bishopsgate Financial helps financial firms go through change management, providing them with both strategy and resourcing. However, when the pandemic hit, how would we ensure that we could maintain their visibility? We pivoted our approach to focus on newsjacking when 'the future of the office' debate started to top the news agenda.

Fortunately, when it came to the remote workspace, Bishopsgate Financial was already ahead of the curve, putting them in a position to provide comment from experience. Following the implementation of lockdown, they became an early adopter of virtual working, joining businesses such as Twitter in ditching the office space permanently. Its status as one of the City's first players to adapt was used to ensure they were seen as a key voice on the topic.

To further help cement its position as an industry thought leader, we shifted focus from the trade media to the national press, securing blanket tier-one media coverage. The campaign involved placing expert, authoritative comment from CEO Mike Hampson, using a mix of newsjacking, profiling, and thought leadership.

In 2020 our work generated an online readership of 2.49 billion, viewership of 105 million, and listenership of 155 million. Campaign highlights include Mike's interview appearances on Sky News, BBC News, and BBC World Service Radio. We have also secured coverage in the Financial Times, The Guardian, Observer, Estates Gazette, and UK Finance.

For the BBC London interview, Mike Hampson spoke alongside the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan. Then as the news agenda moved, we returned to focusing on industry topics such as anti-money laundering, implementation of anti-financial crime processes, responding to IR35, and looking at how financial services will respond to the climate crisis.

In July 2020, we secured a permanent slot for Mike to review the day's business stories. To date, Mike has made ten appearances on Times Radio.
