Miniature models of real distressed buildings

Wednesday, 15th March 2017 at 11:51amMiniature models of real distressed buildings

Miniaturist Joshua Smith crafts incredibly intricate models of real life buildings – warts and all.

The beautifully realistic models, which Smith puts together at a 1:20 scale, feature the distressed elements adorning their full-size counterparts, complete with rubbish bins, battered walls, and graffiti.

Bursting with colour and with enough detail to be completely believable, Smith’s work includes a stunning tiny version of 23 Temple Street in Kowloon, Hong Kong (pictured), along with renditions of buildings in New York City.

According to this interview, Smith visits his buildings in person or on Google Streetview, before recreating them with a variety of everyday materials, including MDF, card, and spray paint.

Explore Smith’s work here and let us know what you think of his creations.
