Did you see this one in the news? Print is still fading…
Our news-consumption habits have changed dramatically over the years, and now News UK has announced another sign that change is still in motion.
For the first time, digital subscriptions to some of News UK’s leading news titles have overtaken print subscriptions. Digital-only subscriptions to The Times and Sunday Times have seen an annual increase of 20% since the digital subscription model was launched in 2010. There are now subscribers in 120 countries across the world.
Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News UK, said: ‘We have continued to innovate and invest in world-class journalism and understand more about what both customers and advertisers want and need. Both print and digital subscribers are staying longer and spending more and we believe there continues to be potential to attract new audiences.’
Regardless of whether readers think this is good or bad news, the big question is… will this prove to be the start of an industry trend?
