Did you know Debenhams was founded in the 18th century?
And over the centuries it’s obviously enjoyed a good few facelifts to its brand identity. With the last one in 1999, it’s about time a new brand campaign came out…
‘Do a bit of Debenhams’ is their new slogan, created to project a sense of approachable, joyous shopping. Their new wordmark logo is in a sans-serif typeface that appears modern and dynamic. It’s a playful campaign, backed up with humorous posters that employ visual jokes.
The new branding follows an extremely difficult period for Debenhams where pre-tax profits sank an incredible 84% this year.
Let’s hope the rebrand injects some much-needed fun back into this time-honoured brand.
